I'm surprised that there were three teams worse than the Devils and that the Devils were included on the list. It's nice that somebody recognizes us as an organization.

I'm surprised they didn't just say "Rankings not applicable. No remotely good prospects"

Todd Cordell: Hockey Prospectus Ranks The New Jersey Devils' Top-10 Prospects
- Todd.Cordell

Pronman puts a ton of value into puck possesion. He goes by his rankings that he did prior to the draft, when he had Severson at 30, Gavrus around 37, and Matteau at 48.

At this point, I can't argue much with his rankings. Severson has a lot of raw upside, but at the same time, he isn't so much hit or miss. He will become an NHL player one day, it's just whether he becomes a third pairing guy or a top flight guy, or even a Duncan Keith-esque guy.

Pronman is always bold and "out there" but it's kind of nice to see. It's really annoying to just see the same top 10 lists with a few variations.

I don't like the way he ranks guys. The rankings themselves are pretty good in most cases but some things I really disagree with. Last year he wasn't sold on Landeskog because of his puck possession skills and all these advanced stats, yet he comes in and wins Rookie of the Year.

To be honest, I didn't even know we had prospects. I thought they were all taken away when we signed Kovy.

To be fair, the only reason he won is so the Devils couldn't get it.

do you guys remember how we were good before the 2004 lockout and then after that lockout we were instantly bad?

Maybe it'll reverse this time. Everybody predicts we'll miss the playoffs so maybe if we lose a year everybody will predict we'll make it.

Depth at D is always good. I feel like we are deep at center, as long as Zajac doesn't leave, with 3 young centers to build around in Zajac, Henrique and Josefson. Depth on the wing is seems like one of our weaker areas now.

we are pretty weak up front in the nhl and our prospects for forwards maybe one of if not worst out of all the teams, we don't have one "top" forward prospect

unfortunately i don't have too high hopes for josefson because he seems to be injury prone

but you don't get a strong pool when your in the playoffs almost every year for 2 decades+

and when you integrate the prospects in the way the devils do

you can either be a terrible team and get top picks and hope it works out and will be a top team for years (Edmonton) or trying to compete without getting top picks

Eh, jury is still out on how good Josefson and Tedenby will be. I look at it as our top 3 forward prospects just graduated last year, so we're a little thin up there for now. But to have 3 potential top 6 or top 9 NHL forwards come out in a year or 2 is rare. I think Matteau is gona work out nicely for us. He's our top forward, tho he's a few years away still.

Tedenby's hit or miss. Has always been. Josefson could max out as a solid second line centerman, but worse case scenario, he becomes a two-way third liner with some offensive production, ala John Madden.

I will only be worried about JJ if Zajac does not return. Otherwise, we can get by with Josefson not maxing out to his potential. If Zajac stays, then Josefson by default becomes the third liner.
